ABOUT DR. SCHMIDT
Dr. John Schmidt is a dual board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, bringing nearly a decade of dedicated practice to patients throughout the Raleigh-Cary area. His advanced training includes a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine (ISMM) at the Medical University of South Carolina, an experience that shaped his precise, procedure-driven approach to diagnosing and treating complex spine and joint conditions. His philosophy is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: most patients can reclaim an active, improved quality of life without surgery or narcotic medications, and it’s his job to help them get there.
Dr. Schmidt, along with Dr. Bai, founded Resolution Spine and Joint with a clear mission, to raise the standard of care for spine and joint conditions in the Triangle region. Frustrated by the fragmented, one-size-fits-all model, he set out to build a practice where patients are heard, evaluated thoroughly, and treated efficiently. At RSJ, that means faster access to appointments, a physician who takes the time to understand each patient’s unique situation, and a full spectrum of interventional and regenerative treatment options under one roof.
Dr. Schmidt is known for his calm, informative approach, a quality his patients consistently praise. He takes pride in explaining complex conditions in plain language, walking patients through procedures step by step, and ensuring they feel confident and comfortable at every stage of their care.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Schmidt has lectured both locally and nationally, sharing expertise with fellow physicians on advanced spine topics and emerging treatment techniques.
BEYOND THE CLINIC
When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and son. An avid adventurer, he can be found skiing mountain slopes, SCUBA diving, playing golf, or capturing the world through the lens of his camera.
